Zanjo je značilno bolj vlažno in zeleno podnebje, s hribovito pokrajino, gozdovi ter slikovito obalo. Regija slovi po bogati kulturi in močnih lokalnih identitetah, posebnih jezikih (baskovščina, galicijščina) ter odlični kulinariki – morskih jedeh, pintxosih, sirih in jabolčniku.
